Run by volunteers and open to all women in the local area, our friendly clubs in Largs offer a creative space to learn new skills, share ideas, and enjoy making things together. You don’t need to be a member of Largs SWI to join us.

Welcome to Largs SWI Sewing Club
We’re here to get you sewing – whether you’re a complete beginner, a little rusty, or already happily working on your own projects.
We meet on Thursday evenings at the A D Cameron Centre, 17–19 Lade Street, Largs KA30 8AZ, with a mixture of relaxed drop-in sewing evenings and structured classes and courses throughout the year. Our Sewing Club is run by a small team of experienced volunteers who share their time, skills and enthusiasm for sewing.
We’re extremely grateful to the Community Investment Fund of North Ayrshire Council, whose generous support enabled us to purchase the equipment that helped make our Sewing Club possible.

There are different ways to join us throughout the year, from relaxed drop-in sewing evenings to structured sewing classes and courses designed to help you develop your skills.
Our drop-in evenings are ideal for working on your own project, finishing something you’ve started or tackling an alteration, with friendly help and support available when you need it.
We also run a changing programme of practical sewing classes and courses throughout the year, from learning the basics to developing your skills through dressmaking, alterations and other sewing projects.
Drop-in sessions: £2.50 per evening
Structured classes and courses: £5.00 per evening
Places are limited and advance booking is required.

Learn to Sew
New to sewing or need a little help getting started? Our friendly, practical classes will help you become familiar with your sewing machine and build your confidence at your own pace.
You’ll learn essential skills such as threading your machine, winding and inserting a bobbin, using different stitches and handling fabric, with plenty of help and guidance along the way.
We also occasionally run Know Your Sewing Machine sessions, where you can bring along your own machine and get help understanding how to set it up and use it confidently.
Build Your Skills
Ready to take your sewing a little further? Our practical, project-based classes are designed to help you develop your techniques while making, altering or adapting something of your own.
Classes vary throughout the year and may include dressmaking, alterations, garment construction and other practical sewing projects. Whether you’re learning how to achieve a better fit, give a favourite garment a new lease of life or make something from scratch, you’ll have friendly guidance and support throughout.
Class sizes are kept small so that everyone has plenty of individual help.
Sewing Club Nights & Drop-ins
Join us for a relaxed and friendly evening of sewing, chatting and sharing ideas – with a cuppa, of course!
Bring along your own sewing project, finish something you’ve started in one of our classes, or simply enjoy sewing in the company of others. Our club nights are a great opportunity to meet other people who enjoy making, swap ideas and find a little inspiration.
All abilities are welcome.
Since launching our Crochet Club in October 2025, thanks to the generous support of the Kelburn Windfarm Community Fund, we’ve seen an incredible response from our community.
What began as a small group of beginners has quickly grown into a thriving, supportive and creative space, with members gaining confidence, learning new skills and producing beautiful handmade pieces. Building on this success, we are delighted to now have further classes underway and will be launching a new Yarn Club to keep the momentum going.
