At Largs SWI, we’re passionate about bringing people together, sharing skills, and making a difference in our community. Through our meetings, clubs, and special events, we support local causes, encourage learning, and create opportunities for friendship and connection.
We’re proud to be an award-winning organisation, recognised locally for our creativity, inclusivity, and community spirit. Whether it’s a coffee morning, craft fair, or collaborative project, everything we do helps make Largs a brighter, more welcoming place to live.

Sharing Skills and Building Confidence
Through our Sewing, Woodwork, and Crochet Clubs, members have learned practical new skills, built confidence, and experienced the joy of creating something by hand.
Many of our members started as complete beginners — and are now creating their own garments, woodworking projects, and crochet pieces while sharing tips and ideas with others!

Our Monthly Meetings, Coffee Mornings, Craft Fairs, and Summer Outings offer a warm, welcoming space for everyone — whether you’re new to Largs or have lived here for years.

Collaborating for Community Success
That’s why we’re proud to collaborate with the CCC Men’s Shed, supporting their fantastic work and celebrating their achievement as Scotland’s Men’s Shed of the Year. Our members regularly share skills, ideas, and friendship with the Men’s Shed team — helping both groups thrive through mutual support and creativity.

Our commitment to community doesn’t stop there. We’re also delighted to be working with Cairnie’s Quay Moorings Association to help enhance the Largs seafront. Largs SWI has adopted two of the large planters along the promenade, adding some much-needed flower power to the area. A team of regular volunteers keep the beds looking beautiful throughout the year, and we’ve recently planted spring bulbs and taken part in local litter-picks to help keep our town looking its best.
Together, these partnerships reflect the heart of Largs SWI — community, creativity, and practical action that makes a real difference.
Supporting Local Causes
Giving back is at the heart of who we are. We’re proud to support and collaborate with local organisations and initiatives — from fundraising for charities to hands-on community projects. Recent highlights include:
Heartstart Training:
Welcoming over 40 local people to learn lifesaving defibrillator and CPR skills.
Knitting for the Community:
As part of #StitchedbySWI, in partnership with Home-Start UK Scotland, our members are knitting and crocheting cosy winter hats for families who could do with a bit of homemade love and care this Christmas.
This wonderful initiative allows our talented members to use their creativity to make a real difference — one stitch at a time.
Community Fundraising:
Regular raffles, craft fairs, and coffee mornings that raise money for local good causes.
Community Spirit:
Each event and project we take on not only raises funds but also brings people together — strengthening community spirit and connection.
We’re proud to champion and celebrate our local makers, traders, and independent businesses.
Supporting Local Businesses
Our Craft Fairs and Coffee Mornings provide opportunities for local crafters and small business owners to showcase their work, connect with new customers, and share their skills.
We also work closely with local suppliers whenever possible — keeping our events community-based and locally sourced.
